Gherke's Gink Fly Floatant needs no introduction, this highly popular dry fly floatant has been used by fly fishing anglers the world over for more than 40 years. Claimed by George Gherke's as the “worlds best dry fly dressing” a statement backed up by its incredible popularity amongst dry fly anglers!

This floatant has been made from a special gel formula ensuring that hackles and fibres don’t cake together, stopping your fly from clogging up and eventually sinking, preventing hours of frustration when on the water when your fly simply just won’t float. This fly floatant has a very particular gravity of 0.77%, which means it floats on water, so when applied it gives your flies incredible buoyancy so your flies ride high, allowing you the ability to skate your flies on the surface creating more of a wake drawing more fish up to take your fly.

This silicone based floatant has stood the test of time due to its ease of use, high float ability and the functionality to be able to precisely apply it onto specific areas of your fly pattern, simply apply a small amount to the parts of your fly you want to float and rub into the dressing with your finger and thumb. Ideal for applying to wings, hackles, para posts and other areas of the fly you want to sit on the surface of the water.

The team at Angling Active’s top tip on the best way to apply this floatant is to add a small amount onto the back of your hand and touch your fly in it then thoroughly rub into the dressing with your finger and thumb. This avoids getting unwanted floatant on your leader material which you don’t want sitting on the surface film. Less is more when applying this floatant!
